Now she’s really done it all.
Oprah will debut the first-ever food issue of O, the Oprah Magazine on Tuesday, complete with her home recipes.
“For me, there’s nothing better than breaking bread with my nearest and dearest,” she says.
The cover shot features the media maven and her partner of 25 years, Stedman Graham, who gushes about Oprah’s culinary skills in the issue.
“She makes great pancakes ... She makes great eggs, she makes great steaks — I mean, you could go on and on and on,” he says. “She’s just an exceptional cook and an exceptional person.”
Oprah’s recipes include a Love Sandwich, Lemon Zest Pasta and O’Mai Mai Juice.
“It became the Love Sandwich because I first started making it just for Stedman,” she explains. “I've only made it for a couple of other people, so if you’ve had me make the Love Sandwich for you, you have to be somebody I really care about.”
Love Sandwich
Makes 1 sandwich.
Active time: 15 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
I include whole basil leaves instead of lettuce, which would wilt in the heat of a panini press.
2 tablespoons chopped scallions
½ teaspoon olive oil
2 teaspoon mayonnaise
2 slices seven-grain bread
2 large basil leaves
1 slice pepper Jack cheese
4 ounces thinly sliced smoked-turkey breast
3 thin avocado slices
3 thin tomato slices
Sauté scallions in olive oil over medium-high heat. Spread 1 teaspoon mayonnaise on each slice of bread and top with a basil leaf. Layer the cheese, turkey, scallions, avocado, and tomato on one slice of bread and cover with the other, mayonnaise side in. Place on a panini press set to medium-high and heat until cheese melts, 3 or 4 minutes.
