A Texas tyke is being hailed as a hero for saving a friend's life after the boy began choking at school last week, according to a local report.

San Antonio kindergartener Nicholas Carvajal, 6, told local KSAT television his best friend, Jasiah Rubalcava, also 6, sprang into action after he gagged on a Cheeto in the cafeteria at West Avenue Elementary on Thursday.

"I was eating a chip and I started choking and he jumped up," Carvajal said.

Rubalcava wrapped his arms around his buddy's waist and performed the Heimlich maneuver, popping the cheesy morsel out of his pal's throat.

"And the Cheeto got out," the pint-sized hero told the station proudly.

The adorable pair recounted the story to several local television stations Wednesday.

"Jasiah, thank you for saving my life," Carvajal said, giving his friend an affectionate squeeze.

Rubalcava's mother, Monica Garcia, said she was thrilled with her boy, but "didn't know" where he learned the life-saving maneuver -- which he can barely pronounce.

Carvajal told one station that he thinks his pal learned it from watching the Disney show “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”

Carvajal's relieved pop, Chris, told KSAT his son had learned a lesson from the incident.

"He has a habit of eating his food too fast, so he's learning to slow [down]," Carvajal said.
